Benefits

The purpose of attic insulation is to regulate the temperature in a home and improve energy efficiency. Attics are typically the primary source of heat gain and heat loss in a home, so installing insulation can help reduce energy consumption and save money on heating and cooling bills. Attic insulation also helps to reduce noise from outside, and it can prevent moisture from accumulating in the attic and causing damage to the roof or other parts of the house.

  • Insulation maximizes natural resources and minimizes energy waste.
  • Save up to 20% on energy bills with proper attic insulation.
  • 40% of home heating cost is from air leaking into your home.
  • Prevents moistures from entering and causing mold growth.
  • Benefits the environment by reducing carbon footprint

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this reduce my heating cost?

Owens Corning studies show that energy costs will be significantly reduced. Refer to www.owenscorning.ca for further details.

How am I helping the environment?

Bringing your attic up to the Owens Corning recommended standard will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 1/2 ton per year every year!

What is my home’s Energy Rating?

There is a proposal to ensure that all resale homes have an energy audit to provide an energy rating to that home before it is sold. This allows purchasers to compare the cost and energy efficiency of different homes before they buy. Bringing your attic insulation up to the Owens Corning recommended standard is an easy and inexpensive way to increase your home’s energy rating and value.

What's an R-value?

Insulation is rated and labeled using an R-value, and is measured based on two factors: the thickness of the material and how effectively it limits heat transfer. The higher the R-value the better your home will withstand energy loss. To be eligible for GreenON Rebates, look for a minimum rating of 20 for basement and exterior wall insulation, and 50 for attic insulation.
